      Leo Newton Is Dead Here,
      Heart Attack Is Fatal Friday:
      A heart attack proved fatal to Leo W. Newton, Friday, June 10, at his home here in Brooklyn. He was 47 years of age. Funeral services for Mr. Newton were held Sunday, June 12, at Bramer's funeral home in Brooklyn at 2:30 p. m. The Rev. Paul K. Figge officiated at the service. Miss Thursia Manatt provided organ music. Pallbarers included Delmar and Carl Carter, Harold and Delmar Ford, Charles Edelen and John Patten. Burial was in I. O. O. F. cemetery here. Leo Wilbert Newton, son of Charles and Carrie Newton, was born at Brooklyn January 10, 1902. His boyhood days were spent here. He was baptised in the faith of the Brethren church which was located in South Brooklyn. March 10, 1922 he married Myrtle Marie Smith. The couple had three children, Alice, Wayne, and Leota Mae. For 28 years he was a dragline operator and for the past three years he was employed by Carl Carter. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias of Brooklyn. In addition to the three children he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Carrie Newton of Brooklyn; three brothers and four sisters. His brothers are: Ray of Brooklyn; Sylvester of Bremen, Ky.; Herbert of Delpaso Heights, Calif. His sisters are: Mrs. Hazel Warfel, Mrs. Theodosia Kriegel and Dorothy, all of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Daisy Stevens of Victor. He is also survived by a grandson, [W.A. "Andy"] Anderson, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his father, his brothers, Clarence, Cleo, and Homer, and three sisters, Pearl, Ella and Mabel.
