      She recollects: Her first home on the homestead was on 80 acres on
      Wire Road, which was once an old Indian trail called the St. Louis to
      Springfield Road.

      As a young woman, was a school teacher at the Big Piney School in
      Missouri. The only other teacher was the principal, Burley Dye. Shealso
      taught at Fairfield and Laquey. (Ruth Tipton)

      Was educated at Pleasant Grove School, Waynesville School, Trower
      School (Deerlick), and Richland Normal School. (They walked throughthe
      woods to Pleasant Grove and rode horseback to Waynesville). (Ruth
      Tipton)

      In 1967, when she married Burley, she moved to his home in Buckhorn,
      Missouri. This home was the building which was formerly the Pleasant
      Grove school, where she and her brother, Ernest had attended from
      1900-1907, and where her mother, Melinda, had attended as a child.
