  • Notes
    • About 1990, we were all at Aunt Carolyn's for family Christmas. Carolyn's new step-granddaughter Trishina Anson was there. Her mother had been hollering her name all day, and it was clearly getting on Trish's nerves. After we were all sitting in the big present-opening circle, her mother kept yelling, "Trishina! Trishina!," trying to get her attention. Finally Trish burst out, "I hate my name! I wish it were just 'Trish'", and Grandma Hamby leaned over and said, "That's okay sweetie, everyone calls me Georga, but my name's Georgina." You could have heard a pin drop. That's the first time any of her children or grandchildren knew that her first name wasn't actually 'Georga'. That's when it also came to light that she'd given herself the middle name 'Carolyn' and named her first daughter that.

Aunt Dolly Gilbreath Hall says her middle name was "Ruth", she says she didnt have one...records found after her death indicate her given name was Georgina Isabel Jackson. [1]
